TAMPA, Fla. – October 15, 2026 – The Downs Golf Practice Facility will celebrate the completion of renovations with the Grand Opening this Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The addition of Toptracer Technology will headline the event.
The Grand Opening will offer more than just a newly updated driving range. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will kick off the festivities; the first 200 customers will receive goody bags, and there will be over $5,000 in giveaways throughout the day.
A bounce house will also be on the premises, so guests of all ages can join in the fun!
Guests are encouraged to participate in FREE Toptracer Range activities and contests throughout the day.
The Bunker bar will open for the very first time, serving everything from signature cocktails to bottled beer to soft drinks, energy drinks and more! Drink specials will be run throughout the day; guests must be 21 and older to purchase alcoholic beverages.
“I am thrilled that this new level of our practice facility incorporates entertainment features,” said Joey DiPompo, Director of Golf. “It will enhance the experience for both our new and existing customers and I’m confident golfers will improve after they use and are able to track their progress”
Toptracer Technology, will allow golfers to track ball flight, measure performance, compete in interactive games, and play virtual rounds on the world’s most iconic golf courses. The addition will include over 20 shaded hitting bays via a permanent structure, including fans, TVs, The Bunker bar, and speakers for background music during the experience.
“This is another huge amenity we are able to offer the fans,” Peter Berube, General Manager of Tampa Bay Downs mentioned. “We aim to offer new experiences each year to our guests.”
The Downs Golf Practice Facility is a recognized GRAA Top 50 Stand Alone Practice Facilities in the nation. On the property of Tampa Bay Downs, leadership continues to aim for success for both the company and the customers.
“Joey DiPompo did an amazing job on concept to completion. The potential of leagues, people having a good time and returning every week is something I look forward to,” Greg Gelyon, Vice President of Finance, when asked about what the future could bring with these renovations.
Now through October 29th Toptracer Range will be FREE for customers to use with their range ball purchase. “We want everyone to get their hands on it, use it and see how much fun they will have on it,” DiPompo said.
Customers will continue to have the opportunity to purchase range balls by the bucket or through range card specials. Grass tees and artificial mat hitting areas will remain open as well.
“A lot of people have asked about our grass hitting area. Our grass hitting area remains intact with no plans on getting rid of it. As a practice facility, we feel it is crucial to have multiple ways to practice. Grass, high quality turf mats, our two short game areas, recently renovated putting green and now Toptracer Range, we believe this is the ultimate place to practice”
Starting on October 30th Toptracer Bays will be available for hourly rental, with range balls included in the booking through the official Tampa Bay Downs website.
