Tournaments

The Bay Area Poker Club is a group of poker players who have joined in a club to play a series of tournaments over the course of August through May. Each week requires a commitment of $130 and new players make a refundable deposit of $500 to ensure that they will play at least 32 of the 42 tournaments. Depending on the number of players in a given week, the payouts go to 3 – 6 players. Those who cash receive points by cashing and the people with the highest average (points divided by number of times played) are sent to play at the WSOP in Las Vegas with the buy-ins paid by the club and expense money provided as well.

Buy-ins range from the main event ($10,000) to a $1,000 event. Anyone cashing in an event returns 25% of their winnings to the club and that is distributed to everyone who has qualified by playing at least 32 times that season.
