OLDSMAR, FL— Trainer Arnaud Delacour is no stranger to winning as he’s scored at over a 20% win rate over the course of his training career. But he’s been unbeatable here at Tampa Bay Downs over the last couple weeks and that has earned him the Martin’s Italian Restaurant Trainer of the Month award.
The native of Normandy, France who bases at Tampa Bay Downs and Turfway Park during the winter, sent out three straight winners over the last few weeks. On March 14th he sent out Duchessa to her second consecutive win, although they did have to sweat out a Stewards Inquiry of the stretch run. No change was made and it was the second consecutive win for Duchessa.
Delacour was back a few days later with Quadra who scored as a favored winner. Then on March 20th it was Empire of Glory shipping up from Gulfstream Park to give Delacour his third straight win and fifth of the season here at Tampa Bay Downs. Delacour has only run 16 times at the current meet, but those five wins give him a winning percentage of 31% for the current meet.
Delacour will be on track Saturday to receive his award for the Martin’s Italian Restaurant Trainer of the Month Award. Racing at Tampa Bay Downs continues with a Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday schedule. This Sunday March 29th is Florida Cup Day which will feature several stakes events for Florida-bred runners.
