Tampa Bay Downs management is pleased to announce the debut of a free shuttle service for horses from Calder Casino & Race Course to Tampa Bay Downs on Saturday, Dec. 31, and continuing each Saturday through March 17, 2011.

Calder-based horses are eligible to use the shuttle, which will depart the Miami track at 3 a.m.each Saturday. Preference will be given to horses entered at Tampa Bay Downs the same day, but others are eligible for the service on a space-available basis.

Interested horsemen should contact the Brook Ledge, Inc. agent Tom Pellegrino 859-983-0574at Calder.

Effective today, horses that are in to race, including alternates, must have a “Horse in Today” sign attached to their stalls by 7:30 a.m. the day of the race. There are no exceptions. The sign must remain attached to the stall until the horse leaves for its race.

In the case of a scratch, the sign may be removed after approval of the scratch by the stewards.

The intention of the ‘Horse in Today’ signs is to strengthen the integrity of Tampa Bay Downs’ barn-area operations and procedures by providing all authorized personnel quick and easy verification of a given horse’s daily status.
