Tampa Bay Downs fan favorite Rosemary Homeister, Jr., and Include Betty stage dramatic rally to win Grade III, $400,000 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park.
You actually did have to see this one to believe it.
Trailing in last place in the 11-horse field down the backstretch of the Grade III, $400,000 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., Suncoast Stakes winner Include Betty launched a furious, seven-wide rally under Tampa Bay Downs jockey Rosemary Homeister, Jr., and held on for a neck victory from Oceanwave in the mile-and-a-sixteenth event for 3-year-old fillies on April 4.
Joseph Rocco, Jr., the jockey on third-place finisher Achiever's Legacy, claimed foul against Include Betty and Homeister, but the result was allowed to stand after a lengthy deliberation by the stewards.
Include Betty paid $39.60 to win. She is owned by Brereton C. Jones and Timothy C. Thornton and trained by Tom Proctor, who won today's Florida Cup Tampa Turf Classic with 6-year-old gelding Old Time Hockey.
Include Betty improved to 3-for-7 lifetime. It was the 13th graded-stakes triumph for Homeister and her first since the Grade III Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay Downs in 2010 on Diva Delite.
