THERECOMESATIGER ROARS PAST CHALLENGERS
OLDSMAR, Fla (January 30, 2007) Jockey Jose Ferrer piloted home the Thomas Proctor-trained Therecomesatiger in the featured eighth race on today’s Tampa Bay Downs card. The Florida-bred son of Tiger Ridge, who is owned and bred by Charles R. Patton, allowed Cherokee Salute to set the pace, beginning his move on the backstretch and closing rapidly at the eighth pole for a convincing 1 ¼ lengths win.
Therecomesatiger defeated a very competitive field that included five stakes-winning horses, including Grade III winner Gun Salute and multiple stakes winner Cosmic Kris. Therecomesatiger ran about 1 1/16 miles on the turf in 1:45.19. Conditioner Thomas Proctor says that he is considering entering the colt in the $150,000 Tampa Bay Stakes, to be run at today’s distance on the turf on February 24th.
Finish Lines…. Lil’s Lassie dominated the field in the ninth race and remains undefeated through three lifetime attempts and earnings of over $31,000. The four year-old grey filly, who is owned by Fred and Wilhemina McEwan and trained by Mike Zwiesler, was guided home by Jose Lezcano in the time of 1:12.02.
Live racing and poker resume on Thursday, February 1 with Tampa Bay Downs gates opening at 11:00 AM. Post time for the first race will be approximately 12:26, and The Silks Card Room will remain open from noon to midnight.
