ALIE’S DOLLY WINS FILLY

OLDSMAR, Fla. (January 23, 2007) Alie’s Dolly, under the guidance of jockey Omar Camejo, swept by leaders to win in today’s Tampa Turf Test, a starter handicap for fillies and mares four years old and upward. Alie’s Dolly, who is owned by Al Alesso and trained by Carl J. Cooper, stalked the pacesetters Elegant Light and Starlana. In the turn for home, she passed the leaders on the far outside and swept to the lead to win the day’s feature. Alie’s Dolly ran the race in 1:39.17, winning by 1 ¾ lengths over long shots Wee Bit of Heaven and Shakoha.
On Thursday, January 25, Tampa Bay Downs will have Senior Day, in which Grandstand admission is free to those over 55. On Saturday, January 27, the $75,000 Pasco Stakes will be run. The contest is for three-year-olds at the distance of seven furlongs.
Tampa Bay Downs will resume live racing on Thursday, January 25th with a ten-race card. Gates will open at 11:00 AM, with post time for the first race at approximately 12:25 PM. The Silks Card Room will stay open from noon though midnight.
