CENTENO RIDES THREE HOME TO VICTORY

1/14/2007

OLDSMAR, Fla (January 14, 2007)  Jockey Daniel Centeno continued to demonstrate his riding prowess today, once again pulling off three victories on the ten race card at Tampa Bay Downs.  This marks the seventh occasion that he has accomplished this feat in the twenty-one days of racing so far this meet.

Centeno got his first win in a photo finish in the day’s opener aboard Gadolinium, a five-year-old mare owned by George I. Elso and trained by Maneul Criollo.  The third race gave Centeno his second victory, when he piloted the Steven Bush-owned Jacob’s Queen under the wire.  Jacob’s Queen, a four-year-old bay filly, was saddled by Robert R. O’Connor II.  Centeno rounded out his hat trick on the Florida-bred colt Notice Me Now.  Notice Me Now is owned by Southern Chase Farm and Sonya Chapman and is trained by James K. Chapman.

Racing will resume on Tuesday, January 16 with a six day racing week.  On Wednesday, Grandstand admission will be free, and Saturday will feature the $60,000 Gasparilla Stakes as well as Hat Giveaway Day, with commemorative Tampa Bay Downs caps given away with the first 7,500 paid admissions.  Sunday will feature a classic car show in the picnic pavilion area, with classic cars on display all day.

Gates to Tampa Bay Downs on all race days in the coming week will open at 11:00 AM, with post time for the first race at approximately 12:25 PM.  The Silks Card Room will open its doors at 12:00 PM, with live poker action continuing through midnight.
