Reinsman Jose Ferrer has experienced many victories on the Oldsmar oval, winning 26 races from 156 starts over the course of the 2006-2007 racing season. Although Ferrer finds success on both dirt and turf, he says that he prefers to ride on the lawn. Ferrer started riding in 1983 and has experienced success in New Jersey, Illinois, New York and Florida. His favorite mount is Double Book; the pair won several races on the turf and set records at MonmouthPark. When he’s not riding, Jose Ferrer enjoys baseball. He’s a fan of the New York Yankees and was even the roommate of pitching coach Billy Connors.
After the Tampa Bay Downs meet, Ferrer moved his tack to Hawthorne Race Course, where he is ranked ninth in the jockey colony with ten wins and $205,363 in prize money earned.
